30MayFirst Day Funk

My classes resumed last Tuesday. I’m officially a college senior. (Yikes! I’m getting old. )

My first class is at 8am. And for someone who’s not really a morning person, the whole “waking up” process is a complete struggle. I’m not really the type who gets up right away the moment I open my eyes. I still stay in bed for a couple of minutes more, say my prayers, check my mobile, “close” my eyes for 5 10 20 minutes and will not budge until I realize that I’m about to be late.

That’s why I try to avoid taking those early classes. (hee )

This time though, I have no choice cause they’re the only ones available plus they fit perfectly on my intended Tuesday-Thursday (TH) schedule. I thought that since I’ll only be having classes twice a week, things will be a little less stressful with all my free days.

But I was wrong. After having all my classes, I felt so exhausted not to mention so hungry that I’m already hearing angels and seeing a tunnel of light. (nah I’m only exaggerating but I was really really hungry then. )

Still, I love my TH schedule. I especially like my professors this term. I have a feeling though that their subjects will be extra-challenging. One of my professors in particular, is the college Dean.

I find him very nice though. And very techy too. While most teachers get dirty using chalk, he has everything on PowerPoint. And I think he has three laptops and all those other gadgets. He also brings to class his assistant to take care of all the setups.

But its not really the techy-ness that made me admire this Professor of mine but I guess, his character. He openly admits being new to the field hes teaching and teaching the course would also be a learning experience to him. That’s exactly his reason for teaching Growth Economicsso hell learn more about the subject as well.

Thats great humility in my humble opinion.

With that said, Im looking forward to the many things Ill learn this term.

In other news, Carrie Underwood is the new American Idol! I was so thrilled she won. I’ve been secretly rooting for her since the beginning. Anyway, I’ve seen her rendition of Guy Sebastian’s Angels Brought Me Here, and it was amazing! I got teary-eyed the first time I watched it. I know she wouldn’t see this but nevertheless, congrats to you Carrie!

Also, while listening to my Hale CD, my mom commented that the band sounded good and was surprised when I told her that they’re in fact, Pinoy. My mom like it so much that she asked for a copy. Hehehe my mom has the coolest music taste ever. (Mana sakin )

By the way, I heard them play last night at Magic 89.9’s Live na Live and man! They were sooooo good! Even their Radiohead and Coldplay covers were done so well. I also like how the members, in spite of their success, remain humble. Plus Champ’s darn cute. I’m in love.Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Anyway, I got the same reaction from my Mother when I played his concert CD in the car.

17May“At sinong di aawit kapag umulan” ~ Rivermaya

Thank God for the rain! Its been mighty hot the past days, I think Ive lost 10 pounds as my room turned into my very own sauna. (although it was offset by the 20 pounds I gained from overeatingI cant help it! Those candied sampaloc from Bangkok were simply irresistible. Hee.)

Anyway, Im halfway through my driving lessons. Ive finished attending all the lectures and have a couple more hours of driving left. Im quite pleased, now that I know how to operate a car. Which, only a few weeks ago, I know nothing of.

In those hours of driving, not only did I learn the maneuvers (e.g. switching gears and lanes, doing those too-complex-for-a-newbie-like-me turns: u-turns, 2 and 3 point turns, etc.) but also equipped myself with the essential traits every Metro Manila driver should possess.

Patience, patience, patience, agility and a whole lot of guts.

Cause youll never know when the next jeepney will cut you off. When will those monster busses swerve to your lane. And when will the next jaywalker dash to the other side of the street. Lets also not forget the bumps, humps and rough roads, flooded streets, busted traffic lights, discourteous drivers, street vendors, and the grueling traffic jams that leave your legs and behind, numb.

Very exciting, indeed.

Driving in Manila is truly incomparable. I cant wait to go Non Pro.

Movie Marathon
(spoilers alert)

Sassy!
Im not a big fan of those Korean telenovelas. I may have seen a few episodes (1-2 maybe), but Ive never watched them on a daily basis. I guess they dont appeal to me much. However, I cant stop raving about this Korean movie Ive seen a few weeks ago. My Sassy Girl has got to be the ultimate chick flick! Ok, Im being a total girl right now but I dont care. I am in love with the guy, Gyeon-Woo! I know guys his kind are almost non-existent, but what the heck, it’s free to dream. I admit crying over that part when they were in that restaurant and Gyeon-Woo was stating the 10 rules of dating the girl. Gosh, my heart melt. I also gushed when the two of them got back together at the end. Teehee.

Poetry is love
Il Postino. I really really love the character of Mario Ruoppolo. Humble, soft-spoken, sweet man. I enjoyed his conversations with Don Pablo. I aww-ed when he wrote that poem for Beatrice. I also like the part when Mario was recording the different sounds of the island. And then theres Don Pablo Neruda, which is my all-time favorite poet. Theres something about his poetry that I love. I just cant identify exactly what it is. His choice of words maybe? Or the way he describes things? Or his use of vivid metaphors, expressing his intense emotions with ardent words of love, passion and tenderness. I love Neruda!

06MayDriving Orientation, Major Ranting

My orientation went pretty well yesterday. Although I was yawning every now and then since I woke up so early that morning. To keep myself awake, I scribbled some things on my notebook, took down notes (o ha!) and amused myself with some of the instructors jokes. Image hosted by Photobucket.com

The room was filled with quite a variety of people. Newbie drivers like me, refreshers (those taking the course again) and some 30, 40-ish women who, were not only loud, but were very biboanswering the instructors questions and voicing out their unnecessary side comments and jokes (which I didnt find funny, but laughed anyway). But it was all good. At least now, I know what BLOWFATCH is and other car terms that were previously so alien to me.

After my orientation, I went back home, ate lunch and pick my brother up. Then we headed to the nearest LTO to apply for our students permit. Again, I had my taste of bureaucracythe first was during the elections. But unlike the elections which were efficient more or less, this ones worse.

First, I wasnt able to complete my requirements. The clerk asked for my TIN (which I dont have, unfortunately) since Im already 19 (which sucks cause my brothers 17 and hes not required to get a TIN). My mom told me to get one from the SSS so I went there only to find out that they dont give out TINs there and we were asked to proceed to the BIR. So we went to the nearest BIR which is in San Juan. The place was packed and every employee was busy so they could not accommodate us. Good thing the security guard was there to help. I was given some forms to fill up and a list of requirements (again).

Baranggay clearance?! What the-? I was asked to get one from, God-knows where. And then Mr. Guard found out that Im not really a San Juan resident. Thus, I was told that I could not apply for a TIN there. I was so irritated. I decided to just let A1 take care of my permit even if it means paying more because of miscellaneous fees. The additional fees were definitely worth it considering how, applying-for-a-permit-from-scratch, was too much of a hassle.

And second, was the long waiting time. It took us more than two hours to get my brothers permit. Ive seen an entire Bong Revilla+Mikee Cojuangco movie due to the long queue.

I was really frustrated yesterday. But then I remember this anecdote of Bo Sanchez where they got lost in Novaliches and his relatives were so agitated. I realized that because I was too busy paying attention to the annoying things, I forgot to see the good things.

Like, I got to hang with my brother which rarely happens. The brother whom I had major fights with when I was younger but now, surprisingly, is becoming one of my favorite companions. Hes not only my body guard but also my alalay. Haha.

I became thankful. Even for the little things.

The fact that Im only a day away from getting my permit. And that I learned so many things that morning. For the friend who was my constant textmate. For Kuya Rani who drove us to various places. And for my parents who were cool enough to let me learn how to drive.

I realized that indeed, we have the power to change our view regarding certain circumstances. I guess it doesn’t really help either if we’re too reactive and complain all the time. We’ll just frustrate ourselves.

By the way, I finally got my permit this afternoon (Thank You Lord!) and Ill start driving next week.

Hale - Here Tonight

( I’m obsessed with this band. Haha! )

04MayBaby, you can drive my car

My mom and I dropped by the A1 office a while ago to inquire about their driving courses. Little did I know that I was going to be enrolled on the same day. Now Im officially a driving student and my orientation begins tomorrow. Id also be applying for my students permit at the LTO so I could immediately start my hands-on training. Im excited yet nervous at the same time since I have zero background on driving. See, Ive always been the passenger (well, except for driving bump cars, but I couldnt possibly do that on the road. lol.) so I dont really know how it feels to be behind the wheels. Well, soon I will. I just hope Id get through the entire course smoothly. Wish me luck!

LSS!

Hales latest single, The Day You Said Goodnight is currently my favorite song. I like how their songs have such killer lyrics that I find quite poetic. Plus the lead singer looks like Atom Araullo, my childhood crush haha. Ill definitely get my hands on their album.

And while I was surfing on the web I found this site where you can view the songs lyrics and download the chords.

Also, another song of the moment is Tori Amos single, Sleeps with Butterflies Again, poetry in motion and the melody is too beautiful. My friend, Trixie and I have a term for this kind of music.. lipad music since youll feel as if youre floating, dancing on air when you listen to it. Flower petals fall in every note. Haay so, pretty.

03MayCaliraya + Pagsanjan Trip

Because its past 12 mn and Im dead tired and my sunburns beginning to sting, Ill just leave you all with a collage of our trip to Caliraya and Pagsanjan, where they have Jacuzzis that remove body stress and waterfalls that break massage peoples back and boat drivers that wow you with there amazing leg-power and paddling skills. (I can still picture them jumping and skipping from one boulder to another in such a fluid pace. Amazing. )

I love this trip.

Revived!

Ive been meaning to come up with a kick-ass post for my newly designed and re-opened blog but my body doesnt want to cooperate. Oh well, this post will do. Night!

20Jul111191619729147905

Gah! I’ve been neglecting this site for so long. ( I wish I’d finish my next layout soon. This one’s old and boring already. :x

By the way, my debut rocked!! A big KISS (MWAH!) and a big HUG (MMM) to everyone who sent in their greetings. ) I also want to thank more than ever, those who came to the party and surprised me with their presence (and presents lol). You made my birthday really special. I feel so loved. Brand New Soco Amaretto Lime

09Jun111191655606866715

Wooooooah! Who will be my 10000th visitor? Please let me know.

Only a month to go til I turn 18. I’m equally excited, as I am nervous. I still don’t know what to do on my debut. A party maybe? Im thinking of having it at some restaurant in Makati. I’m not quite sure yet. Im not planning to make it too extravagant. A simple one will do. I just really want to celebrate it with the people close and dear to me. Yeah. Thats the way to do it. )

04Jun111191672565016663

I’m classmates with her in RELSTWO. Hello to you too Tina! *waves* )

I’m really not a morning person. And I don’t think I’ll ever be one. But things are rather different these days. I’m brutally forced to wake up really early every morning for the entire term because my first class starts at 7 (and I don’t want to be late with any of my classes anymore).

I have 6 classes to attend to. 2 out of 6 are with other blocks, meaning, I’m all alone and I have no one to talk to during those classes. Anyway.. The last one ends at 6pm so I’m more or less at home by 730. Yes, I only have to do it three times a week but oh my..It’s too much for me. Nakakapagod! I’m in school for 12 (+/-) straight hours.

Daig ko pa ang empleyado.

Reminds me of highschool. With the amount of stress and all.

Although I must admit that I’m not completely, entirely loathing my schedule because I now have people to be with during my three-hour break. Halleluiah! And it’s with my favoritest blockmates on earth. Yeah. How lucky can you get? My study/serious/quiet time is reduced by 50% though but it really does not matter much. At least I’m not at all kawawa, pakalatkalat, clueless and a loner during my break. *wide smile*

I may not be blogging a lot for a while. Either I’m too busy, too sleepy, too tired or just plain lazy. It’s not like you’ll miss me or anything.. I just thought of letting you know. But I’ll still be online both in YM and in IRC. Just in case you need to get in touch with me. So until then, see you. )
